Dev Diary: May 3rd

After a few weeks without updates, here are some screenshots of our current project!

Work on the graphical part of the game has advanced, as well as the room editor, but gameplay-wise the game is still in a very early stage.

We think the atmosphere and sensation of playing a board game is there, and the game looks great! We hope to improve gameplay by next week and see what we can get.

Meanwhile, next week we’ll start work on the long awaited White Noise Online indoor map!

looks really cool so far cant wait for it! you guys are the best indie company ive seen. oooh indoors thatll probably be intense and creepy. wonder what kind of building like asylum or hospital maybe even a jail. another thing that could be cool later on is a corn field

  • jeremy says:

reread and analyze and now more pumped for the new game. p.s dont read news at 6 a.m :p

  • Liquidblue4 says:

What exactly do you mean by “indoor”? Can you give us an example? Will it be an actual building or something like caves, and how will that effect the gameplay and creature escape being in an enclosed space?

  • WaaghMan says:

We mean a map with a structure formed by corridors and rooms instead of open space, and of course a ceiling :). Can’t tell how it will perform since we haven’t tried it yet, but it will probably result in a layout where’s harder to get lost, but also harder to flee from the monster.

  • Zodiac5517 says:

This is starting to get real good even though it is in there early stages and the addition of a room editor (hopefully its like a map editor) then this might be a decent game that your making.

  • Liquidblue4 says:

Sounds cool! Keep us updated 🙂

Any idea when this could possibly be hitting the virtual shelves?

  • WaaghMan says:

Too soon to tell yet, but not less than 3 months from now :\.

  • Liquidblue4 says:

Just a quick question that I’m going to post here since I can’t log into the forums or use my name for some reason. Have you guys ever considered making a Castlevania (Metroidvania) styled game? There is a severe lack (Read: Pretty much ZERO) of them in XBLIG or even XBLA.

  • Liquidblue4 says:

A quick 2nd question. I used my codes from AF and AFO in WNO to unlock characters. I believe that the AF code unlocks Adele, but the other code unlocked nothing, even though it says it did. Do they both unlock the same character?

  • WaaghMan says:

Metroidvania is a “genre” that requires lots of work on content generation, probably that’s the reason there’re so few games of that kind.

Johnny Carnage was a first approach to something similar to it.
